was established in 1998 as a single institution biorepository, collecting paediatric cancer and normal biospecimens from inpatients and outpatients of the hospital. To educate and inform potential participants, a regular four-page newsletter has been published since this time. The newsletter is distributed to all new Oncology patients as part of a welcome pack, and copies are also available in oncology outpatient clinics and wards.
The front page of the newsletter is authored by a member of the Tumour Bank, and discusses a different biobanking issue in each edition. The second page highlights research from a scientist who has recently utilised biospecimens from the Tumour Bank. The third page summarises the key issues surrounding tissue donation and is designed as an ongoing reminder to participants. This section remains the same for each newsletter issue. The back page usually features details of a donor group who have raised funds for Tumour Bank activities.
